Song Promo, Exclusive Interview and Film Wallpapers :
“Ta Na Na” is a Hindi song, which is picturised on mainly Govinda and Esha Deol, sung by Nitin Arora, Kunal Ganjawala, Rekha Bharadwaj & Sony Chandy. The lyrics are given by Sameer and music is by Nitin Arora & Sony Chandy for the song.

After being chased by Bhiku Matre’s shadow for years, Manoj Bajpai takes a desperate shot at box-office success with a crack at comedy in this Friday’s release Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. Here an exclusive interview of that actor who was once hailed as the next Naseeruddin...

Why suddenly a comedy? Was it the only way out for Manoj Bajpai?

See, earlier it was always about the script. I would read a script and then decide whether I would do that film or not. But now I have realised that in our industry what is more important is friends. Today I do films that are being made by my friends or those which star my friends. Ganesh Acharya, who directed me in Swami, got really emotionally attached to me. We started a great relationship. He desperately wanted me to do a role in his second film Money Hai To Honey Hai. I said yes because of him.

Is there a sense of regret somewhere that only friends, not scripts, matter?

Why regret? These friends have so much faith and conviction in Manoj Bajpai. That’s why all the films I am doing this year are because of them. I worked with Sanjay Gupta in Dus Kahaaniyan. We became friends and then he asked me whether I would like to do a film produced by him. I couldn’t say no and I did Acid Factory.

So the scripts do not matter at all?

No, the scripts matter. If they are making a crap film, I will not be seen anywhere (laughs). Earlier it was the script and then the friend. Now, it’s the friend and then the script.

That means old-school comedy with Govinda and new-school action with the young guys...

It’s not about new school or old school of film-making. My job is to act. Let the camera catch me in any which way it wants. I just follow my director and my script.

But your forte isn’t cracking cheap jokes or slo-mo walking with hair blowing in the wind...

I am going by my own strength. I am not going to be determined by their style of shot taking. Let the director and the makers then decide how to execute my scenes. I will do my own thing. Nobody will change my level of performance.

Now that Money Hai Toh Honey Hai is ready for release, would you rather have not done it?

No, it has shaped up pretty well. The script was good. But yes, I was apprehensive in the beginning because I had never done out-and-out comedy but seeing Ganesh’s trust and belief in me, I went ahead.

You left Ram Gopal Varma when he was still at the top. Now that he is struggling, do you feel like going back to him and starting from scratch?

Even if he wants to get back, I can’t get back with him. I can work with a bad person for nine years. Not more than that.

1971 was such a good film but it was hardly seen...

The producers goofed up on promotion and they released it right at the start of the (cricket) World Cup. If you look at the DVD sales, they are amazing. I would consider 1971 as the best effort of my career.

Why are you not doing something with wife Neha (Kareeb)?

(Laughs) Ask the directors, darling. She is doing a film with Sanjay Gupta called Alibaug. And Sanjay has to complete that first before he plans something else with her. We discuss only acting at home. So maybe we can act together some day.

Which is your favourite Manoj Bajpai film? Tell us.
