After two years Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed a film 'Saawariya'. Yes, in 2005 the smash hit film Black in all over India & abroad was released which was directed by great bollywood director SLB. Saawariya is the Bollywood film that was released in November 9, 2007, again directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was released by Sony Pictures, and thus was the first Indian movie produced by a Hollywood production house. So finally hollywood production started to come at the bollywood's door. This SLB's movie is based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story, White Nights.

The lead roles was played by newcomer actor Ranbir Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor's son) and newcomer actress Sonam Kapoor (Anil Kapoor's daughter). The movie also stars Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji in supporting roles.

One interesting fact was that for two most awaited hindi movie of that year Om Shanti Om and Saawariya, the release date had been fixed at 9 November, 2007, that means in Diwali. For that reason it was heard that Shahrukh Khan sent a request to SLB for the changing of his movie's release date but unfortunately Sanjay Leela Bhansali rejected Shahrukh's request. So there was a small drama created between them.

Synopsis :

In movie Saawariya the protagonist is young 26 year old man who is a dreamer. He comes across a young lady and their story begins. Days are as bright as night. The story is based on four nights that the protagonists spend together.

It is not exactly a remake but many inspirations are taken from the french movie Four Nights of a Dreamer and the 1988 italian movie Cinema Paradiso. It is also learned that Saawariya to be a resemblance of Iyarkai (An award winning Tamil Movie).
